LAW ENFORCEMENT Counter Ambush

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION 

 

The Law Enforcement Counter ambush course has been developed to provide current response tactics to officers that are caught in a close proximity vehicle ambush.


This course covers advanced combat shooting techniques designed to prepare students for the advanced tactical training scenarios of the course. Training will include a intermediate barrier ballistics lab that will cover the effects of duty ammunition fired through intermediate barriers, vehicles and auto glass. Students will be trained in how to respond to a close proximity ambush by using leading edge tactics, techniques and procedures. Students will be taught methods of engaging through auto glass, how to conduct emergency evacuation procedures of a down vehicle and effective communication. Students will be assessed on their ability to maintain situational awareness while engaging multiple threats and while being able to shoot, move and communicate. This course will also include a module on tactical emergency combat care and will address identifying life threatening trauma, hemorage control and use of hemostatic agents. This course is a must for all patrol officers.

PRE-REQUISITES:  

 

Law Enforcement officer. Qualified in duty handgun and patrol rifle.

  • Perform advanced combat shooting 
  • Demonstrate effective use of cover
  • Conduct actions on ambush
  • Conduct emergency evacuation procedures during a close proximity ambush
  • Conduct effective communication
  • Conduct fire and movement and urban movement techniques
  • employ patrol weapons from within thte vehicle
  • Understand the effects of duty ammunition fired through intermediate barriers
  • Understand how to use vehicles for cover
  • Understand the ballistic effects of firing through auto glass
  • Employ methods of breaking glass during vehicle extractions
  • Understand how to engage threats through auto glass and engage wheels to deflate tires
  • Understand actions on contact and emergency evacuation procedures when ambushed from the front and flanks
  • Conduct break contact drills
  • Conduct methods of interdiction
  • Perform officer down rescues
  • Perform emergency trauma care and tactical emergency casualty care
  • Participate in reality based training scenarios using force on force
