NIGHT OPERATIONS

Level 1 Night Operations

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION 

 

This 2-Day/ 20hr training course is designed to train students in the initial set up and application of night vision goggles and IR lasers for tactical combat shooting.


Training will include classroom presentations on introduction and set up of night fighting equipment consisting of night vision goggles, helmet and mounts, infrared aiming lasers and illuminators. Practical lessons will include familiarization training and movement by foot while under NVGs and live fire shooting evolutions at close quarters and medium ranges, by day and night incorporating the use of organic night fighting equipment.


Students will participate in training evolutions that will develop situational awareness, enhance survivability and increase officer safety.

PRE-REQUISITES:  

 

Full time law enforcement or active duty military.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES:  

 

  • Understand the anatomy and physiology of the eye
  • Familiarize students with Night Fighting Equipment (NFE), capabilities and set up
  • Demonstrate safe weapons handling procedures while using NFE
  • Negotiate terrain effectively using NFE
  • Zero the duty carbine and in-service IR laser & Illuminator
  • Engage targets at intermediate ranges using passive and active targeting methods
  • Engage targets at close quarters using active targeting methods
  • Participate in a validation practice IAW RB1 CQB CT requirements
  • Demonstrate individual proficiency operating in a darkened environment
