ACTIVE SHOOTER RESPONSE

Active SHOOTER Response Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Our active shooter response course has been developed to provide enhanced tactical skill sets to law enforcement officers to better respond to an active shooter crisis. Students will receive enhanced training in weapons handling and surgical marksmanship to include shooting while moving, multiple threat engagements and positive threat identification and discrimination to prepare officers to quickly perceive, recognise, acquire and neutralize threats decisively.

Students will be trained in the latest tactics, techniques and procedures in tactical movement and room clearing as single officers, two-man teams and 4-man teams. Training will include deliberate threshold clearance procedures, dynamic entry procedures and movement to points of domination in the room. Students will learn the room clearance sequence and how to negotiate and clear uncleared space deep in the room using our Primary-10 Room Clearing Scenarios.

Students will be trained to enter, clear and move tactically through hallways and intersections using blowthrough procedures to get to the crisis point as fast as tactically possible. This block of instruction will include tactical formations during movement and actions to deal with barricaded shooters in the hallway and barricaded shooters in rooms.

Students will be trained in manual breaching techniques that includes the tactical application of the sledge hammer, haligan tool and single operator ram to manually breach inward, outward and sliding locked doors.
Students will receive training in tactical emergency casualty care that will include lessons on what interventions should be performed during direct threat care and indirect threat care. Students will learn how to carry and deploy a COTS tourniquet during self aid and buddy aid training and when and how to use hemostatic agents.

Students will participate in reality based training scenarios that have been developed to assess student performance and apply tactics learnt during the course during live target engagement training using non-lethal training ammunition and role players.
