Pistol/ Shotgun - RSS Level 2

The 2-Day Pistol/ Shotgun course forms part of the Redback Shooting System (RSS) and is a Level 2 course. The information contained within this course has been designed and developed for personnel that have been previously qualified to safely carry, control, handle, operate and fire the combat pistol and combat shotgun. This course is intended to train intermediate-level shooters to a proficient standard in the tactical application of RSS methodology and the core skills used in the deployment of the combat pistol and shotgun.

Students will be taught how to deploy the combat shotgun as the primary weapon and efficiently change over to the combat pistol during immediate action and stoppages at close range. Students will be challenged with techniques that will create a reliable and systematic foundation in tactical application of combat shooting fundamentals preparing them for RSS Level 3 training.

Equipment Requirements:

The following equipment list is considered to be the minimum standard for students to arrive with. Students may augment this list with other personal equipment as required.

1. Serviceable Pistol and Shotgun
2. Combat Sling
3. Dump Pouch or Basic Pouch (capable of holding up to 30 rounds)
4. Combat Belt and Holster
5. Three (3) Pistol Magazines (minimum)
6. Pistol Magazine Carriers (belt or vest mounted)
7. Eye Protection
8. Ear Protection (Electronic Ear Pro Preferred)
9. Weapon cleaning kit and lubrication supplies
10. Range Attire (Duty uniform, utility type pants, a t-shirt, boots or shoes)


1. Combat Optic
2. Body Armor, Tactical OverVest or Battle Rig
4. Shooting Gloves
5. Knee Protection
6. Hat
7. Hydration Source (Camelbak or similar)

Ammunition Requirements:

Pistol - 500 rounds
Birdshot - 200 rounds
SG/00' Buck - 100 rounds
Rifled Slug - 50 rounds

Training Course Tuition and Refund Policy

A deposit of half the tuition fee is required at the time of registration to secure a spot on the course. If you wish to pay the full tuition amount at this time, please email us to be invoiced directly.

The full training course tuition is required to be paid in full 60 days before the course start date.

All refunds are subject to a processing fee.

All fees paid are non-refundable at 60 days before the class start date.
